There are some nice free daws out there like tracktion or cakewalk(if you register at bandlab)...
i would even give you a copy of my self developed beatmaking app ... its pretty stable but you would be beta testing

Thanks man! Yeah.. Audacity is great for recording or editing some audio, not so good for trying to make something new haha (Not that this is even what they intend it to be used for!)
That's awesome you're doing a beatmaking app, I'd be interested to take a look at it! I may be getting into some other DAW too once I get a keyboard in the mail, but I want to try out a bunch of different things (The drum sequencer Chrome app I still think is useful, worth the $2 I spent too ha).
Def be sure to share the news when you do finally get it out later this year
