i decided to look for it it online but couldn't find it on BMC's page anymore so i went to the STBB Collection page for STBB Compilations links aaaand..
the "smart" links
brought meee, nowhere (?)
went and replaced them with the proper bandcamp links..
so in case any of you didn't know we compiled winning and other greats tracks into four volumes on bandcamp for a couple of years.. check 'em out !
also if someone has ideas of any kind for STBB, holler!.. meanwhile we'll just keep flippin' samples..fifth year in November in this location on the interwebs btw!

just calculated.. #884 will be 17 years.. so just over half a year..

oh, and on another note, legit considering outlawing the timelimit rule! ..every time .. well, often, when it's there, i run long..
and other weeks usually am under..
maybe a rule stating the the timelimit rule can only be instated when properly substantiated.. and not with: so many beats to listen to let's keep it under 3.

Another attempt at mixing.. I hate not having the ear for that clear mix.
Samples used: Lonnie Liston in 3 layers
- One layer with delay and reverb for the mid/high piano
- Second layer stretched into more of a synth type sound and lows
- Third layer extra piano in the middle
In the start 4 bars of only Lonnie Liston piano goodness to meet rule requirements

Outside: Ableton drumkit, Ableton bass

Used bits from 4 of the samples. Main keys from the lonnie liston smith tune. Made a bass line from a few filtered key stabs. Had an acapella over it, but preferred it without.

Been doing these beat battles long enough...
I should know by now to either look for the rules or just remember from memory
Chopped up the Bill Evans sample
Pulled the low end out a bit for the bass
Added outside drums and 404SX Vinyl Crackle FX
88 Bpm
